Short Funny Poems

Short Funny Poems Pencils

Short funny poems that don’t take long to get to the punch-line. Brevity is a good thing whatever your feelings about the poem. If you like the poem, then you’re left with that happy, “wish-it-lasted-longer” feeling. If you don’t like it, then you’re left with that relieved, “glad-that-didn’t-take-long” feeling.

Let’s start out with an all-too-prevalent lover’s lament.

Snuffed Out
By Tom Mulhern

My love for her is a bright burning flame
Too bad she thinks that I’m totally lame.

Next up is a short funny poem that muses about the good old days before indoor climate control became the norm.

No One Really Noticed
By Tom Mulhern

In the days before
Air-conditioning was invented
People were warmer
And more pungently scented.

Here’s a poem that hints at the unpredictable nature of budding love (elsewhere on this site, you'll find whole batch of short cute love poems).

See What Comes Up
By Tom Mulhern

Our love has sprouted from unpredictable seeds
They may become flowers but they could become weeds.

In the following poem, proper mental preparation seems to get in the way of proper athletic performance.

(Prematurely) In The Zone
By Tom Mulhern

In my mind
I had already won
Until I awoke to the sound
Of the starting gun.

Here’s a short poem about living in a place that gets cold every winter, which I define as anything below 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cold Comfort
By Tom Mulhern

As I grow old
I notice the cold
And wonder why this climate I’ve chosen

But Scripture relates
(If I have it straight)
“Many are cold, but few are frozen.”

This poem is about the seal on a love letter. It’s a fairly limited topic, so the poem has no choice but to be short.

Better Than A John Hancock
By Tom Mulhern

Her letter of love was sealed with a kiss
With shocking pink lipstick that no one could miss.
