Happy Birthday Mom Poem
This page offers a happy birthday mom poem (or two) for moms with a sense of humor. Of course, motherhood by definition pretty much requires a sense of humor. Either that or heavy medication.
First up is a happy birthday mom poem from her thoughtful teenage sons. They have planned a special day for Mom with only her in mind. Except for some parts.
Happy Birthday Mom, From Your Teenage Sons By Tom Mulhern
Happy Birthday, Mom, your day will be great We’ve planned lots of fun from early to late
We’ll start out with waffles, and we hope you don’t mind If you cook, because yours are the very best kind
Then we’ll drive out to the lake for the day And catch lots of fish for you to fillet
So that they’ll be ready when we all get back From riding dirt bikes out on the dirt track
(This isn’t your favorite thing to do But we thought that we should have some fun too)
While we are out, you can go to the store And buy beer and munchies, but we can’t say what for
Just get a lot since we’ve called all the guys But not one more word, because it’s a surprise

This next poem is perhaps a bit more honest in its assessment of the prospects for Mom having a good time on her birthday.
You Know You'd Miss Us (Wouldn't You?) By Tom Mulhern
To give you a birthday That’s calm and peaceful Is what some would call Thinking that’s wishful
The only chance that it might Turn out this way Is for you to stay here While we all go away

One of the more challenging tasks associated with Mom’s birthday is picking out an appropriate birthday card. The following poem outlines this problem and deftly provides a ready-made solution.
When You Care Enough To Send The Very Best, This Probably Wouldn’t Be Your First Choice By Tom Mulhern
Mom, it’s your birthday, and like always it’s been hard To find just the right kind of special birthday card
Some are long and flowery, gushing with words sweet But another saccharin card would seem an admission of defeat
Lots of cards are funny, or at least they try to be But the ones that make me laugh you don’t really want to see
So I wrote this in a blank card, which now is yours to keep I think it has more meaning, and it was also pretty cheap.

Here is a happy birthday Mom poem that I wrote for my very own Mom. It plays on the fact that my Dad was recently Grand Marshal in the Milo Festival Parade, by virtue of the fact that he was the oldest guy in town who could get in and out of the parade vehicle unassisted. Mom could do the same thing, but there was an older woman than her who met the criteria.
I Love A Parade By Tom Mulhern
Mom, I'm not sure how many birthdays you're at I've had 56, so it must be more than that
You may think that you've had so many before That there's no big deal about having one more
But the more birthdays you have, then the older you get Which means that in time it will be a good bet
You too will be asked to masquerade As Grand Marshal in the Milo Festival Parade
And although it's an honor about which he might fuss You can bring along Dad as Grand Marshal emeritus.
