Funny Mothers Day Poems

funny mothers day poems

Funny Mothers Day poems area a great way to give Mom a Mother’s Day message she won’t soon forget. You can only hope she won’t hold it against you.

What could be more precious than letting the kids bake Mom a cake for Mother’s Day? OK, you might be able to think of a few things more precious, but it’s bound to give Mom warm feelings all over. If she’s eaten some of the finished product, those warm feelings could well be a fever.

Lots of people take Mom out to eat on Mother’s Day. LOTS and LOTS of people. Unfortunately for Mom (but fortunately for funny mothers day poems), all these people decide to go to the same restaurant at the same time.

Waiting On Table
By Tom Mulhern

On Mother's Day it's obligatory
To spend some time in purgatory

Otherwise known as going out to eat
Where you wait for an hour just to get a seat

In an overcrowded foyer with nothing to do
But look at all the other Mothers waiting there too

Until finally your family is ushered to a table
Where someone is undoubtedly still not able

To decide what it is they'd like to order
(Driving everyone else to mental disorder)

Eventually, everyone gets their meal
Which, once consumed, thankfully ends this year's ordeal

And when she thinks back on how long it all took
Mom decides next time she'll stay home and cook.

Mother’s Day and flowers just seem to go together. Unless you forget the flowers, in which case Mother’s Day and guilt also go together quite nicely.

Wear The Flowers Until They Fade
By Tom Mulhern

I forgot to buy Mom a corsage
To wear upon her lapel
So now I'm feeling a barrage
Of regrets that I cannot dispel

Why couldn't I be like the others
And plan for Mom's special day?
You can bet that all of their Mothers'
Sport beautiful mini-bouquets

But a corsage soon decomposes
And I've thought of a better way
Next year I'll give her dried roses
Left over from Valentine's Day.

Many of us of the male persuasion tend to regard ourselves as the strong silent type (kidding ourselves about the strong part, but right on target about the limited communication skills). Well, this is the day to get over it, or become grist for even more funny mothers day poems.

Leave Not Thy Words Unspoken, Or Else
By Tom Mulhern

Mom wants to hear
Your words sincere
She can only hope
You won't be a big dope
And fail to tell
That you know very well
She gave you the start
That made you so smart
So this Mother's Day
Is a good time to say
"I love you"
And mean it, too.
