The next funny graduation poem describes what it’s like to actually sit through the graduation ceremony. Pity the poor professors who have to do this every year. At least they get to dress up in funny-looking caps and gowns.

The graduation ceremony has memories you’ll cherish
Unless from boredom you happen to perish
From listening to some pompous wind bag
Whose comments about success endlessly drag
Until those in attendance are in a glazed stupor
Ready for the next graduation party-pooper
That would be an A-student, genetically blessed
With inspiring clichés for all the rest
About working hard, and reaching for the stars
While you sit there wondering how late the bars
Are open today, because you think
What you’d really like is one last drink
That’s how you’d like to turn the page
If you’re ever allowed to cross the stage
And collect the diploma which turns out to be fake
The real one is mailed later if good grades you make
If graduation is such a big deal
Why is the ceremony such a mind-numbing ordeal?

That you are happy to be set free
From taking tests and going to class
Of giving your best, or at least trying to pass
You’ve made it through and off you now go
Right after you say “I told you so”
To those who may have expressed some doubt
That from this school you’d ever get out.
