Daughter To Father Poem Saga
Here’s a daughter to father poem collection that works its way through the ages and stages of the father daughter relationship, and does so in a completely objective manner.
Yes, that’s right. I can present these poems without taking sides because: (a) I am (clearly) not a daughter; and (b) I don’t have any daughters. Which means you’re either going to get undistorted perception or total ignorance. You be the judge.
First up is a daughter to father poem from a five-year old whose Daddy is without question at the top of the list.

Daddy, guess what I'm going to do? When I grow up, I'll marry you!
We'll be as happy as we can be Just you and me, and Mommy makes three
And maybe some kittens, oh please say yes! But no babies, 'cause they make a really big mess
Their diapers are stinky and they spit up on your shoulder So we'll send back any babies until they get older.

The next daughter to father poem shows that it’s not just Moms who make good soccer Moms.
| | My Biggest Fan (Age 10) By Tom Mulhern
Daddy you came To my soccer game And saw for yourself It was more of the same
We lost again Zero to ten And our coach called us headless Chickens in a pen
Which was not very nice (And he said it twice) Not what I'd call Good coaching advice
But I'm really glad That you are my Dad Because even when we lose You never get mad
You say I did great That my team is first-rate And next game will be better Maybe . . . zero to eight.

Now it’s time for a father daughter relationship poem that delves into a phase that is more challenging for both parties.
| | Independent Thinking (Age 15) By Tom Mulhern
Really, Dad, you don't have to shout It's not like a date, we're just going to hang out
Mom didn't yell or get all mad She just said "You'd better check with Dad"
Yes, this boy is nice and polite And he gets good grades, so he must be bright
His parents are cool and don't mind at all In fact, his Mom will drop us off at the mall
But you have to act like it's some kind of big deal And bring up stuff that is, like, totally unreal
About drinking and drugs and premarital sex When we just want to go to the new cine-plex!
Mom says you're this way because of things you once did But why can't you see that I'm not just a kid?

But, fortunately for all concerned, the teenage years are not the end of our story. We get the promise of a happy ending in the following daughter to father poem.
| | Revisiting the Blah-Blah-Blah (Age 20) By Tom Mulhern
OK, Dad, now that I've spent a few years in college I have to admit that your advice and your knowledge Were more on target than I previously thought All those times when you told me that I really ought To work hard and study and not skip class And aim for something higher than "barely pass" (Which, while certainly not great, is better than "flunk" The fate of those friends who chose to stay drunk) At least I had the sense to avoid that trap Not that I expect you to stand up and clap For the mixed results I've achieved so far But you'll be happy to know that I'm raising the bar And more closely will follow, with head, hands and heart The example of a Dad who turned out pretty smart.
